Data storage conversion methodology
Decimal: 1 kB = 1000 B, 1 MB = 1,000,000 B
Binary: 1 KiB = 1024 B, 1 MiB = 1,048,576 B
1 byte = 8 bits
The calculator uses the byte (B) as the canonical base unit.

Notes
- The tool remains explicit about SI decimal prefixes versus IEC binary prefixes. It does not treat KB as 1024 bytes.
- Case is preserved strictly (b = bit, B = byte).
- The calculator uses documented conversion constants without rounding intermediate calculation values. Display formatting may shorten the visible result.
- Negative data storage values are rejected as invalid.
