How to calculate a discount

Discount Formula
discount amount = original price × (discount% / 100)
final price = original price − discount amount
The discount percentage is converted to a decimal and multiplied by the original price to find the savings. The savings are then subtracted from the original price to give the final price.

Notes
- The original price must be 0 or greater, and the discount must be between 0 and 100 inclusive.
- A 0% discount leaves the final price unchanged, while a 100% discount results in a final price of 0.
- This calculator strictly applies a single percentage reduction. It does not add taxes, calculate stacked discounts, or perform currency conversions.
- Calculations use JavaScript floating-point numbers, so some decimal results may be approximate.
